Benefits of Galvanised Steel and Aluminium Guttering
When it comes to guttering, the materials used can vary from PVCu, various metals, concrete and even wood. At The Gutter and Cladding Company, we believe metal guttering performs well and caters to all budgets and requirements.
Offering strength, durability, style and easy maintenance, metal guttering has a range of advantages, so read on for our top reasons to invest.
Why should I invest in metal guttering?
We provide metal guttering in Dorset and often encourage those looking to replace their guttering with galvanised steel or aluminium for the following reasons.
Durability
Steel is an extremely durable alloy material, meaning galvanised steel guttering can hold more water than standard guttering materials without sagging. This is great for homes with steep roofs.
Aluminium is more lightweight and rust-proof, yet also long-lasting. At 2-3mm wide, our extruded aluminium gutters are much wider than our steel guttering at 0.60mm and are, therefore, more robust.
Aesthetic
With a shiny finish, galvanised steel and aluminium guttering can enhance your exterior. With plenty of finishes, including extruded and pressed aluminium ranges, metal guttering can look fantastic. The Gutter & Cladding Company can also offer metal fascias and soffits, which can be colour-matched for a full metal roofline.
Aluminium guttering does not rust, unlike steel or cast iron guttering. Over time a white oxidisation forms a natural protective layer on unsealed aluminium, however, if the gutter is painted or sealed this will not happen.
Temperature-resistant
Rainclear galvanised steel and aluminium guttering resist thermal expansion and contraction, which means that it remains unaffected by sudden fluctuations in temperature. Metal guttering also won't rust either, meaning you don't have to worry about excessive rain damaging your guttering.
Easy to install and low maintenance
Whilst metal guttering is undoubtedly heavier than plastic, it's no more difficult to install or maintain. Our galvanised steel guttering is lighter than iron guttering, which is still a popular choice, but all of our gutters are really easy to install.
Plus, aluminium guttering and other metal gutters don't require the same regular maintenance as plastic does.
Eco-friendly
The great thing about installing metal guttering that lasts a long time is that it's extremely good for the environment. Steel is 100% recyclable so you won't have to worry when you do replace it: galvanised steel guttering or aluminium gutters aren't made with harmful by-products like plastic either, and won't break into smaller shards if they break.
Our aluminium gutters are made of 80% recycled materials and they will generally last upwards of 25 years. If properly maintained with regular cleaning and spot checks, they could outlast your roof!
Affordable
Stainless steel rainwater systems are the most affordable of the metal gutter systems we offer for your roofline and are therefore wonderfully cost-effective early on.
