Wood framed windows and doors have always been popular for their price compared to PVCu and composite alternatives. However, they do come with a few downsides including:
- Maintenance and upkeep
- Security
- Insulation
- Rot, wear and damage
On older frames it is also quite common to see 6mm floating glass which is offers poor insulation and is rather dangerous if broken as it will shatter and form shards rather than crumbling like more common toughened glass. Replacing these frames for more modern alternatives is not only cost effective, it is safer!
This customer in Bournemouth had existing wooden framed windows and doors on their 2 garages. Our team of Eric and James replaced and properly disposed of the old framed and installed brilliant white PVCu alternatives featuring toughened glass for security and insulation.
