In recent weeks, the Gutter and Cladding Company team were called out to a local residence to complete a two-part job. We initially worked on the property’s cladding, and once that was done, we moved on to the porch, which the client wanted to revamp.
Our team are experts in working with weatherboard cladding of all shapes, sizes and varieties, and were more than ready to tackle this task.
In order to begin the cladding work, we had to remove the outer tilework and give ourselves access to the exterior of the property. It was then a case of removing the timber battens and felt.
Once this was done, we were able to fit a breathable, waterproof membrane to provide both protection and adequate airflow. After this, we were happy to install new, 38x50mm treated and load tested battens.
These new installations were covered with a strip membrane to protect against the weather and elements, followed by a perforated membrane to again increase airflow and help ward away pests and insects.
We rounded off this installation with Anthracite Grey Cedral Weatherboard, providing a stylish and clean cladding finish.
For the porch, the team began with the removal of four upright timber posts, as well as removing the bottom timber and cutting back the side fascia boards.
Next was the installation of four white UPVC windows – two perpendicular to the house, with top fanlight openers, and two parallel to the house, with no openers. These make sure the porch gets plenty of light while also ensuring it’s safe, secured, and ventilated.
After the windows came the door – a stylish, outward opening grey on white composite door, with the hinges to the left. The door is detailed with two large rectangular glass windows, as well as chrome fittings.
Once this was done, it was a case of the finishing touches – cladding the interior ceiling, cladding the small gable and adding white Duraboard window boards to the tops of the walls. We finished by trimming and sealing internally and externally.
